Q: How long does the odor eliminating benefit in Refresh® paint last?
A: The longevity will depend on odor concentration, frequency of exposure and the amount of surface area painted. Some field tests have been in process for well over one year and the technology is still eliminating odor.
Q: How does the odor eliminating technology in Refresh® paint work?
A: Odors are gases or vapors that we breath in. Refresh® paint contains proven odor eliminating technologies that remove these vapors from the air. Through natural airflow, the odor vapors come in contact with the walls and are locked within the paint film.
Q: Where do the odors go after painting with Refresh® paint?
A: The odor vapors are captured in the paint film and locked away. Testing has been done to show that washing or damaging the paint will not release the odors.
Q: Since the paint captures the odors, will my walls smell?
A: Testing has been done to show that washing or damaging the paint will not release the odors. Your walls will not smell.
Q: Do I need to paint the walls and ceiling with Refresh® paint for odor elimination to work?
A: The more surface area you cover with Refresh® paint, the better the technology works to eliminate odors. Odor vapors circulate through natural airflow and are captured in the paint film when they come in contact with the painted surface. Painting the ceiling helps increase the amount of surface area available to capture and lock away odor vapors.
Q: Will Refresh® paint always eliminate odor?
A: No, the coating technologies that eliminate odors will eventually stop. However, the paint film itself will continue to look and perform as a premium paint, even after this benefit has been used up.
Q: Is Refresh® paint a high-quality paint?
A: Yes, Refresh® paint is a premium quality paint with exceptional application, coverage, durability and scrubbability. It gives a mildew-resistant coating. This 0 VOC formula (before color is added) is one step closer to having less impact on our environment.
Q: What does VOC mean?
A: ''Volatile organic compounds'' are vapors released from paint as it dries and are thought to contribute to smog and ozone. Refresh® paint is formulated without VOCs, which is one step closer to having less impact on our environment.
Q: What is Greenguard® Indoor Air Quality Certified?
A: The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI) is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification Program. As an ANSI Authorized Standards Developer, GEI establishes acceptable indoor air standards for indoor products, environments, and buildings. GEI’s mission is to improve public health and quality of life through programs that improve indoor air. For more information, go to greenguard.org.
Q: Can household baking soda be added to any paint to get this benefit?
A: No, pouring household baking soda into paint will cause it to clump, making it unusable. The technology is more complicated than this and also requires precise manufacturing processes.
Q: Does the Limited Lifetime Warranty include odor elimination?
A: No, because odor-eliminating properties are dependent on odor concentration, frequency of exposure and the amount of surface area painted. Even after this benefit, the paint film will continue to look and perform as a premium paint.
Q: What sheens are available in Refresh® paints?
A: This line is available in flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss and ceiling paint.
Q: What does “Low Odor” mean on the label?
A: There is little noticeable odor in the paint can or while painting. Colorant used to mix colors may have some odor, so darker colors that use a lot of colorant may have a stronger scent, which will dissipate over time.
Q: Does Refresh® Paint require special application tools?
A: No, Refresh® paint can be applied with any tool, including brushes and rollers.
Q: Will the baking soda technology react with cleaners I use to wash my walls?
A: No, there is no problem using household cleaners on the painted walls.
Q: How do I maximize odor elimination in my room?
A:
  • Paint as many surfaces as possible, including ceilings.
  • Clean curtains, furniture with cushions, and rugs to reduce existing odor concentration in the room. Reducing high odor concentration and constant exposure will allow the odor elimination benefit to last even longer.
